Fab to find Small Copper and Dingy Skipper in the meadow this afternoon. Seventh consecutive year, so I must be doing something right! @WhitbyNats Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire

Plenty of invertebrates around the wildlife pond, some new for me. My thoughts: Plateumaris sericea in two colour forms, Stretch Spider, Tetragnatha sp. and Figwort Weevil, Cionus scrophulariae. Dan Lombard @WhitbyNats

Some lovely 'fresh' butterflies in the meadow this afternoon. Great to see the first two male Common Blues of the year. Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire @WhitbyNats

Lots of large red and azure damselfly action at the pond today and a very special appearance by a female banded demoiselle! York. Dragonfly Grp. @WhitbyNats

Another new true bug in vegetation by the pond this morning. Brown Stilt Bug, Metatropis rufescens. The adults apparently feed on Enchanter's Nightshade, of which there is an abundance. Dan Lombard @WhitbyNats

Thought I'd take pic of Figwort Sawfly larva in the garden and spotted this fab little fly! Sphenella marginata, I think, a gall fly, larva feed on ragworts and groundsels. Both species new to me! Dan Lombard @WhitbyNats

Three fab visitors to the pond over the last three days: Golden-ringed dragonfly, male Banded Demoiselle, and male Ruddy Darter. @WhitbyNats York. Dragonfly Grp.

Last year, my first linnets nested in gorse scrub at the top of the meadow, this year, there have been two pairs. Twice the singing, twice the loveliness! @WhitbyNats BTO Yorkshire NE

White-letter Hairstreaks yesterday, Purple Hairstreak today! What a privilege to have these two tree-top species of butterfly in my garden! @WhitbyNats Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire

Lucky to have a diversity of habitats to help support these beauties...over the past 7 years, I've recorded a total of 24 species here! Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire @WhitbyNats

What a fabulous spider...on figwort by the pond. My trusty ID app tells me Tetragnatha sp. possibly obtusa? Confirmation, if possible, would be fab! Dan Lombard @WhitbyNats

Three Elephant Hawkmoth caterpillars feeding on Bogbean in the wildlife pond. Hope they reach dry land to pupate! Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire @WhitbyNats
