Since last February the number of sickle cell patients receiving exchange transfusions at UHS has increased by 25% thanks to a new machine. ✨ The Spectra Optia® (1P08902) enhances treatment options, and improves quality of life for those living with the disease. 🧵(1/3)

Sickle cell disease affects the shape and function of red blood cells, causing pain and complications. Red cell exchange transfusions help prevent painful crisis episodes. The new machine, funded by NHS England, makes treatment more efficient and reduces admissions. 🏥 (3/3)
