Last week, we held our AGM and it was a valuable opportunity for Trustees and staff to come together, share ideas and future goals, and hear from team members across the organisation about the important work they do every day to protect and improve the rivers of the Westcountry.

Out in the field last week installing a series of leaky dams as part of our natural flood management work. Using winches to manoeuvre timber into place, these features help slow the flow, reduce flood risk downstream, and boost habitat diversity. #NaturalFloodManagement

Beautiful footage of a Beautiful Demoiselle by Katy in the Rivers & Fisheries team today. The larvae of which can only thrive in natural bodies of water that have little human influence. Another in a long list of reason to care for our water courses.

Here we have the native white-clawed crayfishโ€”now found in only 2 Devon rivers. Theyโ€™re being outcompeted by the invasive American signal crayfish (also shown). Biosecurity is key to stopping the spread. #WRTFieldwork #InvasiveSpecies #CleanCheckDry

More great work from the WRT Operations Team delivering DRIP (Devon Resilience Innovation Project) in Bampton! Making use of materials on site, from some alder stools they built leaky woody dams to slow the flow and reduce flood risk downstream.
