we are a fast paced unstructured environment that works long hours. the whole team moved to sf for this — if you aren’t ready for that kind of commitment, you’re probably not a good fit. also you have to share a bunk bed with a software engineer and two interns

wisdom from Susan Kare 1. have confidence in your skill mix 2. don’t fear constraint, it’s the spark you need to be creative 3. iteration is great 4. the more you try to make something that’s never been made before, the more you need to understand what’s already been tried

There's a really, really bad loop happening with AI right now AI cannot solve novel problems (yet or ever) But it's really smart AND really agreeable, to the point of accidentally obfuscating important info So smart and ambitious people tend to get a bit "over their skis"

Great thread from Yunyu - end of the day, credentialed professionals need to be in the drivers seat Models and tools are great, but they run amok unless there’s someone consistently driving the machine

I've been thinking about generative UI for a long time, and it will not work the way people seem to expect If you can generate a series of buttons to do the thing, why not just... do the thing? The point of a user interface is using metaphors to offer new modes of interaction.

a three hundred billion dollar company shipped this disastrous user experience this will always be insta-dismissed by 90% of users because they already have an action they want to take and you're preventing them from doing it. never block the user's desire with your own desires

Don't drop out of college to start or work for a startup. There will be other (and probably better) startup opportunities, but you can't get your college years back.
