You have 1 ICU bed left. Three patients need it. A woman with two children is bleeding to death from complications of child birth, a young man has crashed his car and crushed his chest, and and ICU nurse can no longer breath on her own. Who do you choose?

This is NOT a reason to relax the rule. This is a mistake. As an epidemiologist, I am asking MB to limit contact to household members only for 4 weeks even if this isn’t included in code red rules. Let’s make our own rules! Brian Pallister cbc.ca/news/canada/ma…

Thought experiment.... One that gives me chest pain to even think about. This is not a drill. We have something like 54 COVID ICU beds used, we are already over Stage 1 capacity in Edmonton and South Zone, 4 away in Calgary, and at Stage 1 in North.

#WAAW Based on 2018 data, Canadian experts estimate 26% of infections—about 1 in 4—are resistant to drugs generally used to treat them, and predict 40% resistance by 2050. This is why it’s critical to handle antimicrobials with care. Learn more here: cca-reports.ca/wp-content/upl…

Med student started a thread on vertebral artery dissection ( causing stroke, sometimes severe) after chiropractic manipulationon #MedTwitter and my goodness so many people chiming in with terrible stories. Say no to neck adjustments-I have seen one case and it was tragic.

In a row with a positive control working is pretty damn impressive. That 0.0004% or less of a false pos rate. There are good people working on this. Denial is just hurting everyone. #ReduceContacts #DistanceHandwashMask /Fin

DOSE 2 delay controversies. I just was answering a question about the second dose delay and figure I may as well put it here as well - as it’s quite a common question. A booster after the initial immune response has settled and matured is often better 1/

and these mRNA vaccines were studied at the shortest reasonable interval to speed the trials. There is not a lot of data at longer intervals beyond six weeks to dose 2 but the idea that the first dose protection - which seriously reaches 93% at two weeks- would wane more... 2/

Why is that person wearing a mask? - undervaccinated - at higher risk (age>40, on medications, immune compromise) - has kids, or higher risk family members -wants to help keep COVID under control - face is cold - None of your business, it’s their face
