New #EWCP paper highlights concurrent outbreaks of rabies and canine distemper in Ethiopian wolves, with devastating outcomes of the dual disease threat to vulnerable populations. Surveillance and monitoring are vital for early detection and intervention. bit.ly/49Cun8g

Dire wolves are not back. Pups created by gene editing grey wolves are not true dire wolves, say canid conservation experts. Recreating the Ice Age sounds exciting, but it won't save what's still wild. #Conservation #Biodiversity #GeneEditing #direwolf tinyurl.com/4yh4mak5

African wild dogs are critically endangered and understudied. In Tanzania’s Selous-Nyerere landscape, researchers used camera traps to identify 222 individuals, estimating 2.14 wild dogs/100 km², confirming it as one of Africa's wild dog strongholds. 👉 bit.ly/42NrOhM
