This Flavous Nomad bee was spotted recently in Swindale by Estate Worker Will. They lay their eggs in nests of other solitary bees and are a good sign of a healthy mining bee population. 🐝 #WorldBeeDay #WorldBeeDay2025

We often get questions about our farming operation, so this Nature-Friendly Farming Week (19-25 May 2025), grab a brew & a biscuit & settle down to read all about what we’re up to on our not-so-conventional farm here at Wild Haweswater: bit.ly/NFFW25Blog #NFFWeek2025

Huge thanks to members of Cumbria Dry Stone Walling Association, who spent the weekend fixing wall gaps for us in Swindale. This is the second year in a row they’ve provided their expertise & skill to support us & we’re incredibly grateful. Great work 👏 #WardenWednesday

Labour promised to restore nature. Instead, their Planning Bill contains a licence to destroy it. We offered solutions. We’re done waiting. Part 3 of the Bill would gut the laws protecting our most precious habitats & species. Without significant change, it must be scrapped.

The warning couldn’t be clearer. ⚠️ Slashing the nature-friendly farming budget would be catastrophic for the nature and climate crisis, and for our long-term food security. What's more, it would leave the UK Government’s credibility on climate and nature in tatters.

The Mountain Ringlet (Erebia epiphron) is now on the wing, with the first spotted in Cumbria on the 21 May 🦋⛰️ We're asking visitors and locals in the Lake District to keep their eyes peeled for this elusive butterfly and report their sightings 👉 butterfly-conservation.org/news-and-blog/…

🐴 Look how many flies swarm to a fresh Fell Pony poo! 🪰 We’re noticing so many more flies around this year. Not only are they brilliant at breaking down pony poo, they’re food the chicks that are being raised in Naddle Forest at the moment, such as Pied Flycatchers. 🎥 N.Evans
