Chital deer (Axis axis) led data growth in Wildbook last week. We're learning how to efficiently process very high volumes of camera trapping data, which is valuable experience as we grow and optimize functionality for many species and data collection tools. 🦌🦒🐕

Happy International Whale Shark Day! Wild Me's journey began with whale shark photo ID and applying computer vision. We continue this project today with modern AI in Sharkbook.ai and support a global cadre of researchers tracking this massively migratory shark!

Our final weekly metrics report of 2024! This year we saw a 30% increase in total encounters and a 28% increase in known individual animals. What an amazing year of growth for the scientists and conservationists using Wildbook!

Zebras, whale sharks, and lots of giraffe! Data growth across Wildbook species and users remains strong in 2025. This past week's uploads are no exception, and we added new species support for dwarf (Kogia sima) and pygmy sperm whales (Kogia breviceps) in Flukebook.org.

Spinner dolphins (Stenella longirostris) topped last week's data leaderboard at Wildbook. Known for their acrobatics, they can spin up to seven times with each leap. Spinner dolphins are one of 62 species served in Flukebook.org.

While whale sharks and yellow-bellied toads topped our data leaderboad last week, we also added new support for Striped dolphins in Flukebook.org and Amur tigers in Whiskerbook.org. We use the same MiewID v3 AI model to tell apart individuals for both species!

At CXL, we’re deploying @wildmeorg's Scout software and AI tools to help inventory sequoias and detect new infestations for potential treatments, with support from Patrick J McGovern Foundation. Let’s also celebrate this day by protecting the trees we already have!
