Due to the effects of a large wildfire last night, the Claggan Coastal Trail will remain closed until further notice. There is currently an investigation underway into the cause of the wildfire. Cleanup and repair works cannot commence until this investigation is completed.

Park Notice Orange – High Fire Risk Warning has been extended until April 14th. Please note that there is no camping permitted in the national park at this time. Lighting of fires or BBQs in the national park is also prohibited during this time.

We would like to thank our minister Christopher O'Sullivan and the management of the NPWS, who have committed to repairing the Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail boardwalk. We look forward to being able to take groups back out on this special part of the national park once again.

With the support of National Parks and Wildlife Service we have secured one of Irelands most important corncrake breeding sites in Co. Mayo. The entire 20 acre site is now managed in cooperation with our neighbors and is fortified with a predator control fence. npws.ie/news/minister-

Our free shuttle bus service will resume for 2025 on Tuesday, June 3rd, until Saturday, August 30th. This bus service will run on Tuesdays to Saturdays between Bangor and Westport, with stop-off points at Newport, Letterkeen, Mulranny,and Ballycroy Visitor Centre.
