I was delighted to sign the Equality Tasmania pledge with other candidates today. It is a tragedy we still need politicians & journalists to be called upon to show respect to trans & gender diverse people. I call upon everyone to look upon this issue with open eyes & big hearts

Throughout the lead-up to the election, we're hearing more and more promises from the major parties, but the big challenges facing our country simply aren't being addressed.

So many issues are being put in the too-hard basket. When something does come up, like the allegation that Russia is wanting to base combat aircraft in Indonesia, the Opp uses it as an opportunity to just criticise the Gov. Instead, both parties should work together effectively.

The Labor Party is seriously conflicted when it comes to gambling reforms. Because of its association with numerous large clubs running poker machines, the ALP is a major beneficiary of the gambling industry.

I stand in solidarity with Armenians worldwide to commemorate the 1.5 million lives lost during the Armenian Genocide. The Armenian community has suffered for 110 years and it’s vital we acknowledge these crimes to help the community heal. #auspol #politas

We still have an integrity deficit in both the public and private sectors. Part of reforming this means having much better laws to protect whistleblowers.

Gambling reform is a vitally important area of public policy that is seized up because both major parties are significant beneficiaries of the gambling industry and are effectively running a protection racket for it.

Here at Incat, it’s incredible to see Hull 096, the world’s largest battery electric machine, and constructed here in Clark. We have very smart and innovative people here - designers, engineers and technicians. This huge project is a tribute to the world-leading team at Incat.

Great to vote today! Australia has the best electoral system and most reliable electoral regulator in the world, and we should be proud of it. Now back to handing out how-to-vote cards and then the big party tonight.

My job is to represent & help the Clark community, & I reckon my strong vote shows that I’m achieving that. Thank you voters for putting your trust in me again. I’ll do my best to not let you down, incl by tackling the difficult issues the big parties run from #auspol #politas

I stand in solidarity with Palestinians who are commemorating the Nakba today. The Israeli Government’s continuing genocide in Gaza is an extension of the Nakba, despite Palestinians having every right to self-determination and to live in peace. #auspol #politas

So with the crossbench (including the Nationals) possibly matching the Liberal Party total, the crossbench could become the Opposition, and a crossbencher the Opposition Leader. Would make for an interesting leadership contest. #auspol #politas #ausvotes2025

Every young person deserves to have what they need to succeed in school. On this Public Education Day I join the AEU in celebrating public-school teachers, principals, education support staff, & TAFE teachers across the country who work hard to make this possible #Proudtobepublic

Healthscope's receivership is a wake-up call to the Tasmanian Government to start doing its job and ensure continuity of the vital services provided by Hobart Private Hospital. This situation has been brewing for months, and the government has been sitting on its hands.

National Sorry Day is today. It's a day for remembering the Stolen Generations and reflecting on the impacts of Gov’t decisions on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Saying sorry isn’t the end of reconciliation, it’s the start, and it should mean we do better.

The Fed Gov needs to put a stop to the Americanisation of the health system. If Healthscope has shown us one thing, it’s that corporate self-interest is fundamentally at odds with the sustainable delivery of quality health care for the majority of Australians. #auspol #politas

The PM is right to finally recognise that the Israeli Govt’s genocidal campaign in Gaza is outrageous & inexcusable. But of course it must go further and at least join with the UK and Canada in enforcing sanctions and other tangible measures #auspol #politas

On ABC Radio I discussed the review of the AUKUS deal by the US & the opportunity it provides for Aus. We could ditch nuclear submarines & instead go with technology we can afford & sustain, is better matched to our region & can be deployed in effective numbers. #politas #auspol

It is simply penny-pinching and cruel that the Federal Government makes people wait up to 15 months for Home Care Packages. This is an issue that could and should be resolved quickly.
