strong extra-annual cycles in #UK #groundwater boreholes. PhD funded by British Geological Survey. Are assessments of groundwater availability that focus on seasonality enough? #climate #water #climatechangeeffects #waterresources

Cool little bit of #DataVisualization I developed to show how coherent 7-year cycles are in #UK #groundwater records. Interesting that these cycles are misaligned during one of the biggest #droughts the UK has seen

Train down to Birmingham for the DREAM CDT symposium. Perfect excuse to catch up on AdamBuxton podcasts 👌. Also I’ve been getting into algorithms for swirly lines

Excited to be presenting at #EGU2019 on Monday morning in the Hydrological Extremes session! Here’s a tantalising sneak peak:

Verena Maurer, Buruk Kitachew Wossenyeleh & Dr Will Rust speaking about groundwater drought. Main messages: GW drought duration is mainly related to recharge onset, unsaturated zone delay is important, and GW drought in UK links to NAO cycles. #EGU19 The European Groundwater Drought Initiative

Looking forward to presenting some new research into UK #hydrology extremes to CIWEM Scotland, looking at #drought and #flooding. Be kind enough to register here: ciwem.org/events/unearth… DREAM CDT DocBGS PhD Post Graduate Research Cranfield Water

Watching #alifeonourplanet. I’m an environmental scientist so used handling #ClimateChange but omg. I’m terrified. Time to make a change. #doitforDavid

We use 30 year averages to show climatology (average weather conditions). During the 20th century the UK climatology followed a path round a confined box. With #globalwarming and #climatechange they have escaped out the box. This #dataviz shows UK rainfall and temperature.
