What we are seeing here is the complete failure of the liberal elites to understand their country, report on their country, or appreciate their country. A ruling class stands indicted

Jake Tapper shocked by map that shows that Kamala Harris did not out perform Joe Biden in a single county: Jake Tapper: "Holy smokes! Literally nothing? Literally not one county?" Trump was the biggest winner tonight. Joe Biden 2nd biggest winner.

Mind boggling stat from the exit polls (so take with a pinch of salt!) that Biden won Hispanic men by 23 points in 2020 while Harris lost them by 10 points this year

Hard to overstate just how rapid the changes in US party coalitions have been. The Democrats are now the party of high education *and* high income voters. Just 12 years ago, the inverse was true. On these terms, the Trump coalition was closer to Obama 2008 than the Harris one!

Terrible housing news from the govt. They are shutting down one of the few bright lights in planning policy - the recently established Office for Place, led by createstreets director Nicholas Boys Smith. This is a real, real blow to hopes of beautiful and sustainable development.

Fantastic work by the ai safety institute aisi.gov.uk/work/our-first… ‘World-leading’ gets touted regularly in UK, often egregiously. But the AISI is an *actually* world-leading capability in something very important! We need to celebrate and support it!!

"From April the threshold for paying back a student loan (£25,000) and the minimum wage on a full-time job will cross over. The result is that any graduate with a full-time job... will face a de facto marginal tax rate of at least 37%." economist.com/britain/2024/1…

Really great and detailed piece on what it would take for the UK to win in AI infrastructure: tl;dr, get serious about nuclear. We have all the levers we need.

Labour's family farm tax problem should be really easy to fix, and they could probably even do it in a revenue neutral way - eg instead of 20% above £1m go to 30% above £5 million. They've got it wrong, and if you're going to have to do a U-turn then best to get on with it.

Young men are clearly not buying what the UK Conservatives are selling - but something about Donald Trump really appeals to them 🔴Half of young British men would vote for Trump if they could 🔵But only a quarter backed the Tories or Reform at the last election
