NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says the league discussed expansion in Las Vegas this week and the office has been tasked with an in-depth analysis of all issues around expansion. This sounds like the first real step in the fact-finding process.

Adam Silver said the NBA will begin in-depth studies about the "value of expansion" and offered no timeline for the completion of any study or announcement of any potential new teams. #NBA

"It is truly a complicated issue," Silver says, noting that none of the details -- timeline, expansion fee, and even whether expansion is going to actually happen -- have been finalized in any way.
