We recently welcomed a new group member who is an expert in separations - welcome Bernard! Fitted with an ELSD, he allows us to separate and purify some of our trickier crude mixtures and is fast becoming a key part of the group 🧪😀🎉Teledyne ISCO UK #Chemistry #purification #flashcolumn

Final year PhD ⌬ Hannah presenting her work towards the total synthesis of abyssomicin 2 and neoabyssomicin B at Royal Society of Chemistry organic chemistry poster symposium Bristol Chemistry #chemistry #womeninSTEM 🧪

Big congratulations are in order for our newly Dr Kaiman Cheung who successfully defended his thesis today titled ‘A Multidisciplinary Approach to Exploit Diels-Alderases in Synthesis’. Well done Kaiman! 🧪🧬⚗️🥼📚

We started 2025 with Harrison Johnson-Evans , Matt and The Boss attending @ContBioFlow at Heriot-Watt University. It was great to share ideas and have some excellent discussions around the future of continuous biocatalysis! #continuousflow #biocatalysis 🧫🧪

Great day in Bristol doing a PhD viva. And pleasingly, the first one I’ve done (now over 50) where the examiners were happy to pass the candidate with no corrections!! Congratulations Willis Research Group

A MASSIVE congratulations to Dr. Josie Harcourt on passing her viva yesterday with ZERO corrections! 🧪👩🔬⚗️ Thank you to examiners Adrian Dobbs and Varinder Aggarwal 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 for bringing their expertise to the discussion! #womeninSTEM

It was great to hear about some of the exciting work happening within the chemical biology sphere at the Royal Society of Chemistry CBBG meeting Bristol Chemistry! Liam, Lorna and Sacha Charlton had the opportunity to present some of their work, with Lorna winning a poster prize!🧫👨🔬👩🔬👩🔬🧪

We also had poster presentations from fourth year TECS and Bristol ChemSynth CDTs PhD, ⌬ Hannah on her work towards the total synthesis of abyssomicin 2 and the neoabyssomicins as well as second year PBowler who presented his progress towards the total synthesis of phomonol (photos not included)

A couple of weeks ago, we attended #Biotrans2025 with Sacha Charlton and Harrison Johnson-Evans presenting their work harnessing the power of Diels-Alderases! It was an exceptional week of science, networking and swimming in the Rhine! SWBio DTP Bristol Chemistry 👩🔬👨🔬🧫

Congratulations to everyone who graduated Bristol Chemistry this week but a particular congratulations to our two PhD alumni Josie Harcourt and Kaiman Cheung and our four MSci students Alex, Ayden, Ollie and Rhiannon!! 🥂🎉⚗️🧪🎉🥂
