Winkleigh Morris Christmas lunch at the Black River Inn, Black Torrington, yesterday. Very good meal followed by carols, rapper, morris & music.

Tried out an idea for a new dance last night. Very pleased with encouraging support from Winkleigh members, who offered some good suggestions for the extra figure that I felt it needed.

Brilliant Boxing Day dancing at Duke of York, Iddesleigh, with Tinners, followed by good music & song session in pub. And over £40 in collection which will go to Devon Air Ambulance.

Amazing - 19 at last night's practice. 2 sets up for our new 8 person dance, and able to take 6 off for a simpler dance and 9 for a more complex one.

Very enjoyable dancing at the Wassail at Sampford Courtenay Cider Farm. They have an amazing selection of bottled ciders + their own on tap.

Amazing - five musicians including 3 fiddles at practice last night. Downside was several dancers with shoulder, wrist, knee or ankle problems.

After a day's workshop we've come up with a new party game for folkies - give 5 inexperienced dancers rapper swords and a couple of basic moves. Time how long it takes to extricate themselves without letting go of the swords!

Scouting for our proposed day of dance I had good cause to visit 3 breweries - and discovered a 4th that I didn't know about next to a likely dance spot. Only one half pint consumed though. Hic.

Exeter Morris Men dance there regularly. Always get a good audience but difficult to get more than 4 people in the bar at any one time!

Time to relax after our successful day of dance -though effectively a weekend with some guests travelling a long way to be with us. Thanks to Ripley, Tywardreath, Treacle Eater, St Clements & Tinners for your support - and also to Thames Valley for joining us today.

This is urgent, Oliver Dowden. Our theatres, music venues & performing arts companies are on the brink of ruin. We need them to survive. They need urgent investment and clear plans from government. Please, act now #ForTheArts. PCA campaignforthearts.org

#BorisJohnson Please reconsider banning takaway alcohol from pubs during lockdown. It will really make a difference to their ability to survive during these difficult times
