While the decision is a relief, one has to acknowledge the devastating impact of the case on search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean. It was the prelude to a massive wave of criminalization and repression in Europe. At the same time, people on the move were left to die.

Hoy falleció Luis Menotti, el entrenador de la selección argentina en 1978 que ganó el mundial durante la dictadura de Videla que usó como propaganda. Poca gente sabe que Menotti refugió durante un mes en su casa a una joven buscada por la Juna Militar a la que ayudó a exiliarse.
