Happy birthday to Nurse Elsie Knocker who was born #OTD, 1884 in Exeter, England, She was one of few nurses who worked directly on the front lines in WWI, being one of the most photographed nurses in the war.

A hot but enjoyable Grenadier Day at Lille Barracks for Armed Forces Day, portraying the QAIMNS & Guards Armoured Brigade, with half-track, limber & 17pdr. We got to chat to lots of visitors about our kit & WW2 & enjoyed hearing about people's military service & their ancestors.

Today is American Independence Day. In July 1942, hundreds of magazines placed the US flag on their cover as part of the “United We Stand” campaign, to bolster morale, demonstrate solidarity & encourage national pride when WW2 was testing the nation's resolve & changing lives.
