On Thursday 26th June, we held our Talking Learning event. Pupils and staff sat down to look through pupils’ workbooks and discuss learning. This event was a great way for pupils to receive key feedback on how to improve even further as well as ask staff questions.

On Friday 27th June, we had Matilda Bourne a professional food stylist in with our hospitality and catering pupils. Pupils took part in a competition making burgers and pavlova appealing using the tips that Matilda gave during her workshop, we look forward to having her in again!

Sustainability Club students took part in a workshop on Friday 27th, led by Luciana from @letsgozero. The session aimed to gather information to support the development of a Climate Action Plan for Woodlands School. #ClimateActionCountdown

Construction is now complete on our brand-new Wellbeing Garden! The first bird box, handmade by our very own Saad (Year 9), has been installed while our Sustainability Group have been building benches to provide seating. Our next steps will be adding plants, flowers and more!

On Friday 27th June, 5 of our pupils visited New Hall School in Chelmsford for a French and Spanish A-Level taster day. They enjoyed multiple activities related to their chosen language such as cooking, debating and a tour. The day ended with a speech from the Headteacher.

On June 28th, 21 of our Drama students on the Artistic Performance Team performed at the annual Feast and Fayre in Horndon on the Hill. The festival saw our performers create comedy sketches based on the Italian Art form of Commedia dell'Arte. Well done to all our performers!

Tickets for the APT charity Talent Show in aid of BASIS- South Essex are now available to book on H O M E | Woodlands CA. Tickets are £5 and must be paid for in cash on the door but please book your ticket in advance on our website. All money raised will go to the charity.

Today, a group of 60 pupils from Years 9 and 10 participated in the "Talk About the Future" workshops. Pupils reflected on skills they have learnt throughout the year and focused on how to transfer these skills into essential life competencies such as interviews and presentations

On Monday 30th June, we welcomed back Mahlia Hussain (former Deputy Head Girl 2020) and Sam Wright (Former Head Boy 2023) in as part of our Alumni program. Mahlia and Sam delivered to some of our Year 10 pupils about their exciting journeys beyond Woodlands.

On Thursday 3rd July, members of our Code Breaking Club had an amazing opportunity to take part in the "Number Patterns: The Bunker" workshop delivered by AS Creatives. The workshop challenged pupils to work collaboratively to uncover secret messages and hidden locations

On July 8th, 10 of our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors attended the Stop the Hate conference hosted by Basildon Twinning and the Never Forget project. The pupils delivered powerful speeches and poems about bullying to other attendees and listened to others with great respect.

On Friday 11th July, our annual Sports Day took place at Basildon Sporting Village. Despite the very hot weather, pupils were well behaved and showed great sportsmanship during all events. Head to our website for more photos!

One reward trip for pupils today was to Hollywood Bowl in Basildon. Pupils had lots of fun and were very well behaved while creating a great competition between themselves.

Rewards trip to Pizza Hut! Pupils behaved well and enjoyed the buffet of food together.

Rewards Trip to Colchester Zoo! Pupils explored the zoo seeing many animals and even feeding some. Well done to the pupils for the amazing behaviour.

On the last day of the year, pupils who received 100% attendance were rewarded with free ice cream and lots of outdoor games. With perfect weather for the cold treat, pupils had lots of fun playing Giant Jenga, Connect Four, Archery, Limbo and more!

Friday Funday! Another school year over and the last day was filled with fun for the pupils. From karaoke, rock band and busking to penalty shoot outs, the pupils enjoyed many activities during the last breaktime of the year.
