This year is the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo. The WVS base at Headcorn railway station in Kent, fed troops evacuated from #Dunkirk before they dispersed. Lynda Rawlins was awarded a CO’s commendation in recognition of her exemplary efforts in enhancing her WRVS centre in Germany. This included a 24-hour area for visiting troops,with free Wi-Fi, enabling them to maintain communication with their families and friends back in the UK.

Have you ever wandered what we were doing during #DDay ? WVS were asked to manage a special 24 hour #welfaresupport service in the dockyard for small ships and landing craft bringing men back from the beaches in France. It was all highly secret of course #LestWeForget #DDay 🪖

Did you know WVS supported the Army in Korea? We were responsible for supervising the recreation rooms in #Naafi canteens.
