The big weekends keep coming. Our 1sts take on BAC/EE Preston Cricket Club II on Saturday and @IngolCC II on Sunday knowing two wins could mean Division 4 cricket. The club is behind you lads. You've got more than 11 men out there.

So who is your club stalwart and can you beat ours? Yesterday, Tony Horsfall competed in his 57th consecutive cricket season first playing in 1966. At Wyre we are proud to have him. He does not have social media but lets share his and others achievements!

So close now... Despite defeat by BAC/EE Preston Cricket Club II on Saturday including 5 for 23 from McCabe, our 1sts bounced back on Sunday taking 11pts from @IngolCC II with Crabtree's 52* leaving us 1 point from promotion. Our 2nds defeated Blackpool Cricket Club IV by 117 runs.

A mixed weekend for the club; A below par performance for the 1s resulted in a convincing win for F&BCC, the 2s with a cracking win away at Blackpool Cricket Club, and a tight game away at Longridge CC for the Sunday plodders ended in us just being edged out. Lots to build on!

Better late than never, but here are the results from Saturdays games - Two early finishes, one very good, one… not so good… Batting was the achilles heel again for the 1s at Blackpool, but Lord Richards’ 2s go marching on with their third win in four games 👊🏻

No 1st XI game this weekend, but there’s a double header for Captain Richards rampant 2nd XI Wombles. First up we travel to the Lancashire Plains on Satrurday to face Rufford Cricket Club, then on Sunday we meet Charnock St James CC at Great Eccleston CC (massive thanks guys!) due to Poulton Gala.

Two defeats at the weekend for the 2s but plenty to build upon. Special mention to the Bamford brothers, who at one stage looked as if they would chase down Charnock’s total. On to T20 matters - Thursday brings about our first game of the season vs. Blackpool Cricket Club at Stanley Park.

A rest for the 2s this weekend, but a double header beckons for the 1s. Saturday sees us entertain Hoghton Cricket Club at Cottam Hall, then a trip up the 55 on Sunday to face Vernon Carus CC in the Crabtree Cup. Forza Wyre ✊🏻
