Very happy that our new paper is online Immunity. cell.com/immunity/fullt…. PD-L1 exerts an immunostimulatory function by restricting CTLA-4 activity. Congrats to Yunlong Zhao, xiaozheng. Credits to amazing collaborators Cristina Bonorino, Jack Bui, Li-Fan Lu & Changchun Xiao.

The #immune #checkpoint proteins PD-1 and BTLA regulate #TCell signaling differentially and only partially through the phosphatases SHP1 and SHP2, say Xiaozheng Xu Amit Fulzele Takeya Masubuchi Yunlong Zhao Enfu Hui et al UCSD BioSciences bit.ly/3cWpfxo

Why does PD-1 recruit SHP2 but some similar receptors recruit SHP1? In our new preprint spearheaded by Xiaozheng Xu and Takeya Masubuchi, we show that the pY+1 residue gates SHP1 binding: A single point mutation at this residue makes PD-1 recruit SHP1. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Great to see our eLife paper entitled "Molecular features underlying differential SHP1/SHP2 binding of immune checkpoint receptors" published online!!! doi.org/10.7554/eLife.… eLife - the journal Enfu Hui Yunlong Zhao Takeya Masubuchi Xiaozheng Xu

Excited to see it out! Very proud of both Xiaozheng Xu and Takeya Masubuchi who collaborated seamlessly on this project!

Today we report on eLife - the journal mechanisms by which similar immune checkpoint receptors show different preferences on SHP1/2, and that PD1 has an atypical ITIM. Congrats to Xiaozheng Xu Takeya Masubuchi Thanks Review Commons for reviewing & referring our preprint doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…
