It was fascinating to learn from Thomas Chi that ultrasound could replace fluoroscopy for percutaneous access in PCNL. I’m all for wearing less lead! #WCE2019 #friends19

What is pop corning? It’s a mixture of dusting and fragmentation. Why do we need it? It creates smaller particulates, defined as < 250 microns, which means fewer passes with a basket and a higher stone free rate! Great talk by Dr. Doizi. UroToday.com #WCE2019

Dr. Glenn Preminger from Duke discussed how suction device Kalera did not increase fluoroscopy time but significantly improved stone free rate for flexible ureteroscopy when prospectively compared to basketing. Is this the future of Endourology? #WCE2019 UroToday.com

Dr. Evangelos Liatsikos brings up an important point about the single use ureteroscope: what is its ecological impact? ORs typically don’t recycle — urologists could be increasingly contributing to landfill waste with single use scopes. #WCE2019 UroToday.com

URS has higher stone free rates compared to ESWL. However, ESWL is associated with shorter LOS and lower complication rates. Ultimately, treatment should be based on patient situation. Great debate between Drs. Dellis and Karavitakis at the #WCE2019 Hellenic Plenary! UroToday.com

2 of 3 urology patients are interested in telemedicine. Are urologists ready to deliver this kind of care? Great talk by Dr. Viers at the Mayo Clinic Rochester. #WCE2019 UroToday.com

The absence of evidence does not mean the absence of harm. Had the opportunity to cover Dr. Koo’s informative talk about his work on dietary supplements for stone formers! bit.ly/2WN47m8

It was an honor to work on this nomination for Viraj Master! I don’t know if I’d be applying into urology today if it weren’t for his mentorship throughout medical school.
