Just meet a MSc student who brought her 1.5 year daughter to the meeting; as a foreigner & a mom, she had no choice; she took her son to classes during her UG study. She likes children so takes a child language acquisition project w me. I have so much admiration to the student.

We document caregivers’ multimodal language (n= 72, children: 2-4 years) in semi naturalistic interaction. We show how multimodal language differ when talking about objects that are present vs absent. Multimodal iconicity is more common for absent objects. In face-to-face interaction people can learn incidentally new concepts talking to more expert people. Using data from ECOLANG, we show that both verbal dimensions and multimodal behaviours support learning in dyadic interaction #CogSci2024
