Happy to share our new spatial transcriptomics study for reconstructing 3D tissue organization at the single-cell resolution. It’s the work of exceptionally talented student YCF with Arpan Das 😷. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

We call our new method scHolography. It learns inter-pixel information from spatial transcriptomic data to infer 3D tissue organization and cell-cell interactions at the single-cell level. Please use our package and share your feedback! github.com/YiLab-SC/scHol…

Happy to share two of our newest studies. In the study of MOF and H4K16ac, we found essential functions of MOF in controlling mitochondria and primary cilia in the skin. The regulation is prominently mediated at gene promoters. nature.com/articles/s4146…

In our analysis of single cell transcriptome and open chromatin during aging, Chi Zhang found the transcriptome of hair follicle stem cells is influenced by the hair cycle whereas their niche is less sensitive. frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

The results, from both studies, suggest oxidative phosphorylation (mitochondria), cell adhesion and robust differentiation are key to hair growth and aging.

It’s the time of the year. Let’s first congratulate our two Harvard-bound students. Ayasa is our research assistant and she will join the graduate program at Harvard biology. Anisha is an IMSA student ,and will join Harvard college as undergraduate student this fall.

Excited to share our new work in collaboration with Jie Yan and The Green Lab We 1) determined 20pN force through E-cad is sufficient to activate PIEZO1; 2) quantified Ca dynamics and identified their downstream targets in hair follicle stem cells. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Yi Lab (@yi_lab_nu) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The surprising findings are 1) the force of 20pN through Ecad is sufficient to activate PIEOZ1; 2) AP1 factors control numerous ECM and actin genes in stem cells. How to leverage force to control hair growth is our next focus!
