Thank you Natalie Bennett and Tanni Grey-Thompson for your contributions to the debate. From the outside, it's a helpless situation to be in. Thank you for giving disabled and chronically sick people a voice. šŸ™ #UCBill

The Universal Credit Bill has passed. The Motion of Regret did not. I am heartbroken. We got powerful truths spoken in the Lords which may help later in legal and public fights. But.... What is this thing called Labour. Not something I morally recognise Love to all x

Sorry to say that's it. The universal credit bill has been passed. Not a great advert for the #Lords this evening, despite a small number of good speeches by those opposed. Full report by DNS on Thursday. Not feeling thrilled about democracy this evening. #UniversalCreditBill

Only 17 peers opposed the UC Bill, Govt has rammed it through. We defeated all the PIP measures. But the bill remains harmful to disabled people. Shameful exercise of anti democratic ableist power. parliamentlive.tv/event/index/86…

York Disability Week Surprised it’s not 100% of disabled people asked. But given its history, I’m not convinced that an organisation like Sustrans can be relied on to fix any of it ? Where are they, for example, in opposing inaccessible rail bridges that break active travel routes ?

York Disability Week I’ve yet to see the Government plan to address disabled / chronically sick people being ā€˜managed’ out of their jobs, many of whom don’t have the spoons to fight back by going to employment tribunal. Where’s the penalty for employers who chuck us toward benefits ?

Steve Wallis (@poetstevewallis) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Flick Williams York Disability Week Couldn't even get my union interested in a tribunal for an obvious case of constructive dismissal. Fees had just come in, and it was low paid work, so no real win to be had for them. It *felt* dismissive of disability generally, but that may just have been me...

Flick Williams (@flickhwilliams) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Steve Wallis York Disability Week No, pretty sure it’s not just how you felt about it. Many thousands of us have been through the same with varying levels of union support or none. It’s societal ableism coupled with capitalism that disposes of us as soon as we cease to fit neatly into being cogs in the wheel.

Today - along with other rebels - I got an email from Party Authorities telling me I voted in Parliament against the Govts welfare reforms 6 times in one day. I don't repent my votes. I was elected on a pledge to stand by working class electors and above all the poorest.

I should be demob happy having done last meeting until Sept. Instead, I feel despair. Disabled people have never been more ignored, our hard fought for rights never more threatened. Our oppression is ramping up & eugenics out in plain sight…
