BREAKING: Disability benefit cuts will reportedly be rushed through the Commons in the next 2 weeks. Despite government claims, the cuts will push disabled and seriously ill people away from work and into poverty. Ask your MP to vote against the cuts👇 z2k.eaction.org.uk/cuts-legislati…

The government's concessions on disability benefit cuts don’t go far enough. People who become disabled will not benefit from this watering down and trying work will only become even more risky for current claimants. The government must go back to the drawing board.

Life costs more for disabled people. Disabled households would need an extra £1,095 per month to have the same standard of living as non-disabled households, new Scope research shows. Urge your MP to vote against disability benefits cuts TOMORROW. z2k.eaction.org.uk/cuts-legislati…

The debate on the disability benefit cuts bill is now underway. Even with the government's concessions, around 250,000 people still stand to be pushed into poverty by the plans. We are calling on all MPs to vote against this rushed and dangerous bill.

We joined anti-poverty and disability charities, DDPOs, and disability activists today to urge MPs to vote against disability benefit cuts tonight. The government must go back to the drawing board and engage properly with disabled people, e.g. before decisions are made.

It’s very welcome that the government will remove the PIP cuts from the UC & PIP Bill. But this bill will still significantly cut support for seriously ill and disabled people on universal credit. The government must now scrap the whole bill and go back to the drawing board.

Z2K (Zacchaeus 2000 Trust) (@z2k_trust) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Our campaigning is working – last night the government removed the PIP cuts from the UC & PIP bill. THANK YOU to every single person who took action. But planned cuts to the health element of UC still risk plunging disabled people deeper into poverty. They should be dropped.

Z2K (Zacchaeus 2000 Trust) (@z2k_trust) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Any changes to PIP eligibility will only be made following the 'Timms review', Sir Stephen Timms announced yesterday. But this means little if the review is just a tick-box exercise. There must be meaningful coproduction with disabled people and equal decision-making power.

The UC & PIP Bill will cut UC health for new claimants from 2026 by over £200/month. This will deepen poverty for seriously ill and disabled people, but will also increase the risk of trying work for current claimants. MPs must support amendments to strip out these cuts.
