Smashing female Kingfisher at St Aidan's yesterday 🙂

Our regular Southend Seafront ringers birdingtothemax.bsky.social (📸) and April Mayne were joined by Paul Roper for a whoosh net attempt on Saturday. To the best of our knowledge, they broke the 🚨 WORLD LONGEVITY RECORD 🚨 for Mediterranean Gull with this bird re-trapped! 🧵 1/3

A brilliant 5 days spent in Andalucía with Arjun Dutta Zach Pannifer and jackbirdley with three Iberian Lynx plus great supporting cast of mammals (total of 11 species) and some great birding.

This beautiful 1st winter Bonaparte's Gull was a lovely surprise along Ogmore Estuary this morning. Far better than Sand Martins or Wheatears I was hoping for!

This Lapwing has caught the eye the last few days having extensive white primaries.

After no luck with the Alpine Accentor, the trip to Flamborough today with a few of the Spurn Bird Observatory team was made worthwhile by sensational overhead views of this Red-rumped Swallow near the sea watch hide around 14.15 before it drifted back north. BirdGuides RareBirdAlertUK

Just found this Lesser-striped swallow at Al Abraq, Kuwait with Vincent Legrand and Julian Hainaut . A first for Kuwait and as far as we know a first for the classic WP too. BirdGuides

After the heavy rain cleared, butterflies soon perked up in the late afternoon at Spurn, with the area's 2nd White-letter Hairstreak and 3rd Purple Hairstreak both around the treetops near the Kew viewing area, though often distant and mobile. #Spurnbutterflies Spurn Bird Observatory

Came across this apparent Black-Throated Diver x Great Northern Diver hybrid, whilst carrying out Black-Throated Diver surveys in the Scottish Highlands this week. It was present with three other Black-Throated Divers and a pretty striking individual!
