I’m horrified by the acts of terrorism against Israel early this morning. Los Angeles is home to over half a million Jews, and many of us have close ties to people in harm's way. I join voices across the nation in offering my deepest sympathies and strong support during this time

2002 Cindy Montanez runs for State Assembly, my grandpa gave his largest political donation of his life. Our restaurant catered/donated food every weekend since her campaign office was next door based in Pacoima. You were always an amazing leader. RIP Assemblywoman :(

Mourning the passing of former UCLA Chancellor Charles Young. One of the greatest leaders I ever had the privilege of working with. UCLA, Los Angeles, and higher education are the better for him.

I know so many families in LA that are terrified right now of being the victim of this exact form of hatred and violence. My heart is with the family that had to endure this traumatic experience, and I am thankful they are safe. Hate has absolutely no place in Los Angeles.

He took on racism and anti-semitism in the most elite corner of LA -- private clubs, country clubs -- and won latimes.com/california/sto…

My team responded to seven reports of antisemitic graffiti in my district yesterday, including this one. Jews in LA have been sounding the alarm on the rise in antisemitism for years. And yet here we are. It’s disgusting and it has no place in Los Angeles.

I am so lucky to have now called California my home twice in my life. I’m excited and proud to see 100+ organisations up and down the state working together for the first-ever California Festival. Congrats to all performers, and thank you to everyone working behind the scenes.

I’ve just spoken with Chief Moore and have been in touch with Mayor Bass about the protest in the Fairfax neighborhood. LAPD has declared a tactical alert, and will ensure there is sufficient police support.

For over two decades community has called on the City of LA to stop the West Pico Oil Pipeline. Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky is leading the fight, and I was proud to join and testify in support of her motion for change.

Jews in Los Angeles woke up this morning after celebrating the second night of Hanukkah to see our buildings vandalized with antisemitic messages in Westwood and Holmby Hills.

My office is working with the Westwood Village Improvement Association, private property owners and the Office of Community Beautification to make sure every bit of graffiti is removed as quickly as possible.

The antisemitic violence that broke out today in Pico Robertson would have been completely unacceptable anywhere in Los Angeles, but that it was planned and carried out in front of a synagogue in the heart of LA’s Jewish community should be deeply concerning to us all. (1/3)
