Associating the studentโ€™s misconduct with the studentโ€™s ethnicity is harmful. It doesnโ€™t matter that she said โ€œMost Chinese I know are honest. I hope this is an exception.โ€ One can try replacing โ€œChineseโ€ with โ€œpeople of colorโ€ and read it again. Is it not blatantly offensive?
