Brought the whole Olzmann lab from UC Berkeley to @sacnas this year! Wooo! Excited to be here at this fantastic conference! #hawaii is an amazing location for #sacnas2019. #olzmaloha
Enjoyed writing this News & Views in Nature Chemical Biology with Zhipeng Li SN Sarah Morris. Rohatgi Lab Stanford Biochemistry identifies enzymatically regulated phase partitioning by the lipid droplet-associated hydrolase LDAH as a drug activation mechanism. nature.com/articles/s4158…
After being closed for 98 long days, our lab at UC Berkeley is finally open again! (with reduced personnel density / capacity and extensive safety measures in place) Yay! Let's make some discoveries! #lipiddroplets #ferroptosis #ERliterature #lipotoxicity
Our review is finally out in Developmental Cell !! It was fun writing it during the shelter-in-place. Highly recommended to everyone interested in #lysosome,#autophagy, #mTOR. Plus, I think it's very well written :-p Couldn't have done this without Roberto Zoncu
Read this week's Cancer Discovery #ResearchWatch, Loss of LPR8 Reduces GPX4 Levels, Resulting in Ferroptosis Sensitivity, summarizing the work of Zhipeng Li, James Olzmann et al. bit.ly/39BtDFJ UC Berkeley
Excited to share our preprint describing the identification of several new FSP1 inhibitors that sensitize cancer cells to ferroptosis!! 🎉 This study was spearheaded by grad student Joseph Hendricks and was a terrific collaboration with Julia Schaletzky. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Great to see that our FSP1 inhibitor (FSEN1) is already available from Cayman Chemical. Hope that this new inhibitor will be a useful tool for the #ferroptosis field! caymanchem.com/product/38025/…. See our bioRxiv preprint for more info - doi.org/10.1101/2022.1… (pub coming soon!).
I'm thrilled to share that I'll be starting as an assistant professor at the University of Florida, BMB Dept! UF Medicine. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my mentor James James Olzmann for his invaluable guidance and unwavering support throughout my training and job search!
