Can any #twitterstorians or #digitalhumanities folk recommend key literature for an exciting project Dr Elle Larsson & I are working on? We're trying to get a feel for current practice & methods, esp concerning visualising networks & digital history. All suggestions appreciated!

Such a privilege to hear The Typo King FRSL / FRSA read his poem 'Fuck Empire', commissioned by Manchester Museum. Time & again reminded that emotion belongs in museums, alongside objects, part of their histories and ongoing narratives & that art can help us get to this truth #devolvingrestitution

So many memories wrapped up in this clip. Afternoons sat watching with my gran, being a bit mesmerised by him, the joy of Morph, an old VHS tape of episodes that we'd rewatch again and again. It felt like he was talking to you, eager to help, interested.

I have no words. I've typed and retyped something 20 times. This is unbelievable. Love and solidarity to all those who have been told their job is being 'deleted' and then told to shut up about it.

This is so bleak and shortsighted. I grew up in Staffordshire- the museums there played such a huge part in making these spaces, history, objects, & art feel accessible & tangible. What a loss on so many levels for so many people The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery Gladstone P Museum

'Culture means the affirmation of life. There can be no true culture while we make stock-piles of nuclear weapons- they are the negation of life.' - 1961, co-authored by Barbara Hepworth. Heartbreaking this week of all weeks, from the beautiful retrospective The Hepworth Wakefield

Love the idea of mentorship opportunities aimed at over 35s. When you grow up without privilege, your young adulthood can be spent in survival mode, meaning opportunities aimed at young people pass you by.

"Today, knowledge of the Holocaust is kept alive by more than 100 museums and memorials, including in such unexpected countries as Cuba, Indonesia and Taiwan. But there is no comparable memory industry outside of Japan to remind people of nuclear war." theguardian.com/world/2022/may…

Loved this huge 'stained glass' installation by Beatriz Milhazes Turner Contemporary - framing the skyline and rolling sea. Joyful, towering colour and pattern.

I try to be optimistic. Honestly. But, for the love of Tina Arena, everything is awful, isn't it? And while I know it might seem simplistic, naive even, there's got to be a better way of doing just about everything. 🧵

Calling British Library readers of a certain age! The British Library has restarted book requests in St Pancras and it’s a wild trip back to the 1990s with paper request slips in triplicate. Heaven.
