A common mechanism underlying choice’s influence on preference and #memory. New paper by Sarah DuBrow, E. Eberts and Vishnu Murty link.springer.com/article/10.375…

If you formalise Howard Eichenbaum’s ideas about relational memory, you can predict hippocampal/entorhinal spatial responses, but also complex non-spatial things like counting cells, and why hippocampus is important for transitive inference. James Whittington Tim Muller

New paper proposing a key role for latent cause inference in event segmentation with the brilliant Yeon Soon Shin (@yeonsoonshin.bsky.social). Part of an exciting, forthcoming special issue on “Event-Predictive Cognition” in Topics in Cognitive Science. doi.org/10.1111/tops.1… psyarxiv.com/gqhwv

Another 4 years later, very excited that this is out in the world! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… We (Sarah DuBrow, @JonWinawer, @LilaDavachi) show that event boundaries -> compressed duration judgments (due to reduced memory access) + hippocampal patterns predict subjective judgments!

I’m reticent to post about the passing of Sarah DuBrow, b/c I feel it trivializes the tragedy. But friends have been haunted by her head shot while scrolling. Here is a photo of the Sarah I loved. Not a loss to the field, but the loss of a Beer-drinking, cynical, caring friend.

New paper with Sze Chai Kwok out now in JoCN! “Distinct Generation of Subjective Vividness and Confidence during Naturalistic Memory Retrieval in Angular Gyrus” doi.org/10.1162/jocn_a…

Excited to share our new preprint! "Re-expression of CA1 and entorhinal activity patterns preserves temporal context memory at long timescales" w/ the amazing Sarah DuBrow Hutchinson Lab Brice Kuhl and many others from the NSD crew cvnlab biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Very excited to share my first preprint of graduate school! "Contextual familiarity rescues the cost of switching" w/ the amazing Vishnu Murty and Sarah DuBrow psyarxiv.com/7sfh4/

Our 1st foray into free recall dynamics/ CMR to understand how reward motivation changes memory organization. ドリブル中毒-23🔥 knocked it out of the park with Nina Rouhani. Also one of the few remaining collaborations I had with Sarah DuBrow. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

The University of Oregon is seeking to establish an endowed fund in honor of Sarah DuBrow that will support graduate students in psychology. The goal is to raise $25k. To contribute, go to giving.uoregon.edu/s/1540/17/home…. (pt 1/3)

Thrilled that this paper is now out in Nature Communications!

I am excited to share my first first-author paper in collaboration with Sarah DuBrow and Vishnu Murty! 1/3 link.springer.com/article/10.375…

If you are interested in PhD programs to study the cognitive neuroscience of memory, several of us at University of Oregon are recruiting (including new hire Vishnu Murty)!! Applications due 12/1. Hoping to admit quite a few students!

Very excited to share this work! This project is so special to me in many ways. I am endlessly grateful to my wonderful mentors Brice Kuhl, Hutchinson Lab, and Sarah DuBrow.
