#TBT Summer of 2019. That's Gihan. Sweetest girl. She & her family moved back to #Syria at the end of that summer. Taking a chance to see if they can salvage life in their homeland. Measuring educational impact is challenging to start. Even harder with people on the move.

Social Media is not going away. What do we do? We can teach our youth basic #digitalliteracy so they can 1/ understand how to protect themselves 2/ see all that is possible beyond #socialmedia. Like all tools, we can use it for good or evil.

Nargis says it so eloquently. That's the goal of our summer camp program. To provide a place so youth can experience each other as equals, irrespective of background, income, gender, faith, and etc. We believe these are the first steps to a more equitable world for all.

Layla is the star of our student profile this wk. Current podcast host. Future doctor. Exceptional Kurdish dancer. Being a refugee does not mean they are without initiative, talent, or imagination.

#Hackathon --- We love Team Wasp's solution to the burnt-out students are experiencing with remote learning. Adjust the schedule so they have one day a week without Zoom. To get caught up & do the work that is required to LEARN. So simple. Busy is not the same as learning.

Some problems require local knowledge & localized solution. In Arbat refugee camp, the students do not have textbooks making remote learning all but impossible. Team Big Bang proposed for all the students to share a digital copy of the textbooks via Google Drive. #Hackathon

Team Holly Minds wants to design an AI-based learning app to bring personalized learning to refugee students worldwide. Our favorite part is the app will periodically ping the student to make sure they are still awake should they be inactive 4 more than 15 mins. LOL. #Hackathon

Virtual Reality feels like a tech that could have been but never was. You should see the joy it brings our refugee students. To experience VR 4 the first time, transported outside of the camp, to somewhere you've always wanted to go...Paris! Bali! New York City! It's magic. #TBT
