first Friday of every month I made a tradition for myself where I go up to bed early (930ish) with a bunch of poetry books & a downtempo playlist & I just kinda hang in bed with poems for a few hours until falling asleep — two years in, it’s still a favorite thing of mine

Just finished @finejuli's The Upstairs House: a masterclass in using the surreal to illuminate reality (in this case, postpartum everything). As a new-ish mom in grad school, moments in this book made me feel *so* seen (even if I don't hang out with Margaret Wise Brown's ghost)

My husband's firm has defiantly refused to put adequate family leave policies in place under the excuse of "we're a small business." I'll be alone with a toddler and a newborn in January - I want to cry. Nothing is worth this strain on a family's mental health.
