In Reception we are learning about the seaside! We have started talking about what we can see and do at the seaside. The children have enjoyed making their own pirate maps.

A wonderful piece of greater depth writing from Aya in Y6 based on The Highway Man by Alfred Noyes. She has such a sophisticated style and a strong author voice! Brilliant work!

Kingfishers had a lovely morning session with parents. They created their own stop start animations using ducks on pictures from the River Irwell. Big thank you to everyone who made it.

Y5 visited Ordsall Hall to learn more about the Tudor way of life. They experienced a dinner party and learnt different dances. They experienced life as a servant by cooking in the kitchen and looking at where they would sleep. We also learnt about Lord and Lady Radclyffe.

This week is National Garden Week! Can you spend time in the garden - whether their own outside or on your window ledge, a family member’s or a community garden. Show some love for the earth in celebration of this ecological, sustainable event! Enjoy, like our Y2's here!

Year 5 have started their River Irwell topic this week. They had fun using Canva to create posters about the water cycle and the different reasons why flooding happens. The children became news presenters, reporting breaking news about the River Irwell flooding Manchester.

Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Blackpool Zoo last week. We learnt all about the different types of teeth animals have and saw so many animals on our walk around! Some children held a Madagascan hissing cockroach, and we even saw a sea lion show!

Nursery have enjoyed starting our new topic called Happy Holidays. We have shared holidays and trips we have been on and enjoyed reading seaside stories. This week we have read The Suitcase and discussed what we need to pack in a suitcase. We can’t wait to continue this topic! 🌊

Reception Swans - our focus is learning about the seaside and what we can do at the beach! We created a class seaside together on the board and then as a challenge in continuous provision we created our own seaside's. We hope you like them!

Here is some of the great work our children have completed in their River Irwell project. We have compared the features of the River Irwell to the River Nile, discussing the importance of both rivers to the people who live around them.

Year 5 Ravens have managed to raise a MASSIVE £82.25 for Macmillan Cancer Support Support. They had so much fun coming into school wearing their pyjamas but thankfully they didn't spend all day sleeping!
