Agonal breathing is present in approximately 60% of patients with VF cardiac arrest. Yet the presence of agonal breathing will often confuse the caller and/or dispatcher into thinking the patient is not in cardiac arrest. Remember to ask if the patient is breathing NORMALLY.

Just had my first meeting with my Prescribe it Forward mentor! Love how it instantly felt like she was on my team, supporting me and planning with me. Makes the whole process feel much less daunting and much more connected (‘:

“Why do you want to be a doctor?” I answer without hesitation, “I want to help people.” “There are many ways to help people.” “I want to save lives.” “There are many ways to do that too. So I’ll ask you again, why do you want to be a doctor?” “Because I believe in it.” 1/

If you were focused on the debate, you may have missed today’s #COVID19 update. 73k new cases today. Highest since July. And the third highest EVER. 41k hospitalized. That’s an 11k increase in just a few weeks. Sadly > 1,000 Americans died today. And it’ll only get worse.

Being at 0% ICU capacity means one bad car accident, one bad fall, one bad allergic reaction, etc. where you’d otherwise survive could literally kill you. 0% ICU capacity affects EVERYONE not just those who get covid

During my second year of medical school, I rotated through the trauma surgery department at one of Boston's most prestigious hospitals. In my first two weeks, I met some exceptional residents and got to scrub into awesome cases. But everything changed one week later. 1/🧵

Your daily reminder that the insulin I’ve used for 24 years, Humalog, has gone from $21 a vial to $275 a vial with no changes to the insulin or even the packaging. That’s a 1200% increase on a hormone every human requires to live, but my body can’t make. I die in 48 hours w/o it

Medicine: why won’t med students go into rural practice? Also medicine: makes it almost impossible for rural applicants to get in, continues to try to attract city people to rural life & gets confused why it doesn’t work

“try being lgbt in palestine and see if they support you” the only thing this statement tells me is that the person saying it thinks solidarity is transactional. human right are not a marketplace exchange. it is that simple

Not just women! Trans men & non-binary people can also menstruate. Some women also *don’t* menstruate for many reasons, including surviving cancer that required a hysterectomy. GOP mad at this are protecting the patriarchal idea that women are most valuable as uterus holders.
