First week back at placement since surgery, and I am so exhausted and sore. I have never needed a bank holiday more than now 🫠

Back in my favourite place, with some new mugs to add to my ever growing pile of pottery that I need to sell. Sadly can’t throw till I’m fully recovered, so catching up on some glazing ☺️

Far too many of us get judged because we look too healthy or not sick enough. You’re don’t look sick enough to be in that much pain & distress. But invisible illnesses don’t work like that. We can’t assume we know how someone feels on the inside.

3 months ago I had a major haemorrhage, lost over half my blood volume & nearly died. But somehow I’ve managed to pass my 4th year exams, can’t believe I’m now a final year medical student 🥹

Been celebrating passing my exams with a trip to centre court #Wimbledon

Having a sort out before putting my excess pottery on Etsy, turns out I’ve been quite productive on the wheel this year 😊

Started final year today, would really appreciate it if for this last year of med school my body could let me get through this year without any more major health problems, surgeries or near death experiences please🤞🏻

Just sold my first piece of pottery on Etsy, feel like a fully fledged amateur potter now ☺️

My placement supervisor called me an ‘exceptionally gifted student’ in my sign off feedback 🥺

Genuinely incredibly shocked to have won an award for being the highest scorer in pharmacology questions for my 4th year exams, that I took 2.5 months after nearly dying and needing emergency surgery. I thought I was awful at pharmacology, apparently not 😂

Got presented with my award for being the highest scoring student in drug management questions in my 4th year exams last night. Still can’t quite believe I won a medical school prize 🥹

It’s been an incredibly triggering couple of weeks working in the A&E department where I nearly died in April. But receiving this email from the placement lead consultant has really made my day 🥹

Cannot begin to describe the relief that my pre allocation application for foundation doctor jobs when I graduate was accepted. So I’ll be staying in London for the next 2 years and I’m not going to get flung across the country and have to change all my medical care 😅

The long term emotional recovery from this has been incredibly hard, not sure it’s something I will ever feel fully recovered from. But I can’t believe it was a year ago now, and that this year I start my med school finals tomorrow!

So happy to have got my top choice of foundation jobs 🎉
