🧬Excited to share that the 2nd story out of my PhD is now on bioRxiv!🧬We resolved locus-specific methylation dynamics of the monomeric mouse L1 promoter during development using bisulfite & nanopore sequencing! w/ Sandy Richardson Geoff Faulkner 👇 1/6 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Binfie opportunity. Senior Research Fellow, Level C @MonashCCS ACBD Monash University work with a great team MonashBioinformatics . Make a difference and #changeIt Details here: careers.pageuppeople.com/513/cw/en/job/…

Imprinting in placenta via nanopore. Worth a read if you're into that sort of thing! Gratitude to all involved, foremost the co-lead authors Michalea Kindlova and Hannah Byrne (no twitter afaik). Many thanks to QLD Family Cohort for making this possible. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Maybe you can cheat death...(or at least use it to break free) - 🍻 to Guoxun Wang an exceptional postdoc w/an exceptional eye & Tiffany Reese Lab - a cool story to be part of along w/Orchard Lab #mitochondria #mimics #ohmy UTSW Immunology UTSW Media Relations nature.com/articles/s4158…

ABACBS is excited to announce that this year’s Conference will be held 4 – 8 Dec in Brisbane, for the first time in collaboration with the International Society of Computational Biology ISCB News! Please save the date and start planning your trip! Info coming soon… Cheong Xin (CX) Chan UQ News

🐭🧬Our paper on locus-specific mouse L1 activity and regulation, led by the indomitable Patricia Gerdes is out Genome Research!🧬🐭 This study evolved from a simple question: what defines the mutagenic potential of a new L1 copy in vivo? genome.cshlp.org/cgi/content/lo… A thread: 1/n

Amazing results from Sergey Koren. Near perfect assembly of human, ont only. "We found the accuracy of Duplex data to be similar to HiFi sequencing, but with read lengths tens of kb longer, .... assemblies have a base accuracy exceeding 99.999% (Q50) and near-perfect continuity"

What has 126 figure panels and a completely new antiviral pathway? The Gammon Lab's latest paper in Nature Microbiology, featuring student Emily Rex's tour de force discovery of the FEAR pathway. Huge congrats to the team! nature.com/articles/s4156…

Interesting observation from Trey Ideker and colleagues: could #epigenetic ageing clocks reflect somatic mutation rather than cellular reprogramming? Good rule of thumb: whenever there's an "epigenetic" change, look for a genetic change. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
