Vital work here from Dmitri Nepogodiev and colleagues - really looking forward to their report. The broader implications of such delayed healthcare will be felt for many years.

Important study here - many patients not home in 30 days after hip fracture so 90 days a better time point for DAH measurement. Imagine this generalises to other emergency surgical conditions in the older survival patient.

Check out our new #openaccess paper on long-term mortality after elective surgery. TLDR: patients with complications were almost twice as likely to die within one year after surgery. bjanaesthesia.org/article/S0007-… #perioperative #anaesthesia #surgery William Harvey Research Institute CCPMG

Tranexamic Acid for Major Surgery - cheap and cost effective - a NICE quality standard supported by a major RCT NEJM = nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… Why don't we do this in practice? How do we promote implementation? Please read editorial British Journal of Anaesthesia sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Great to see this. To 'editorialise' 1) Creatinine is not fit for purpose to assess persistent renal dysfunction in survivors of critical illness 2) Cystatin c is better 3) Muscle wasting can explain the bias in creatinine 4) Many of our patients have missed kidney dysfunction!
