Spirit Week (Day 3):
Carlton the Monkey visited P1 and P2 classrooms and read with students! It was so fun to read our favorite books with our favorite monkey!
Over the course of the final weeks of our annual Snowball Slam, we’ve had the pleasure of listening to some of our favorite community members read us some wonderful books!
We are one lucky school!
Today marks the end of our Spirit Week and the SNOWBALL SLAM! Carlton School students read a grand total of 62,894 books or chapters over the course of the last six weeks and we could not be more proud of our community of dedicated readers! We celebrated BIG with a slush party!
Happy Dominican Independence Day! Carlton School celebrated with a fun assembly! We learned all about Dominican Independence Day and watched a traditional Dominican dance, performed by a group of our talented students!
On Wednesday, we had our February assembly! We listened to Ms. Eveleth read "I Like Myself" by Sharon Beaumont, then students completed a fun activity in their Community Circles!
Big CONGRATS to our 3 February Students of the Month! Great job to Miyasha, Carter and Lorybelkis!
We are honoring SEL Day with a "Carlton Has Character" tree. Students designed leaves by writing or drawing how their unique selves positively contribute to our school community! #SELday
Happy Friday! Derby the Police Dog came to visit Carlton School today! Such a "pawsome" way to end the week! Thanks to Derby and his partner Officer Rondinelli for stopping by to make us smile! ☺️🐾

Our March Assembly was great! Congratulations to our 3 Students of the Month: Ashley (Curiosity Award), Lily (Effort Award) and Jack (Community Award)! We also had Community Circles today. Mrs. Osgood read "After the Fall" by Dan Santat & students completed a related activity!
On Wednesday, Mr. Robert Buchanan of Meridian Associates kindly explained the process he uses to complete surveys for the City of Salem! Thanks for the fun lesson at Curtis Park, Mr. Buchanan!
Carlton celebrated Down Syndrome Awareness Day earlier this week and it was a wonderful day! Lots of students and staff wore fun socks for the Lots of Socks Campaign! Thank you to all of the students, staff and families who helped us spread kindness & love!
Our April assembly was great! Congratulations to our Students of the Month, Jasmelin (for effort), Mina (for curiosity) and Eleanor (for community)!
Mrs. Yoder read "Rose's Garden" by Peter H. Reynolds and during Community Circles, students planted their own "gardens!"
On Thursday, E2 seniors visited Appleton Farms in Ipswich! Students had the opportunity to learn about soil science and composting. They also took a nature walk to look for different decomposers in their natural habitats!
On Wednesday, all Carlton staff visited parks and playgrounds throughout Salem to spend time with students and families to build community! Our awesome PTO put together baskets that were filled with fun craft supplies and activities!
Such a great way to spend the afternoon!
Big thanks to Liz Dewey from UMass Nutrition for coming to Carlton to plant lettuce with our P2 students as part of W.I.N. Wednesday! P2 is learning all about healthy eating and will get to harvest the lettuce once it grows!
