Inspired by a visit to the incredible cave paintings at Lascaux last week I made a site where you can make your own hand paintings 🖐️

For patients, their rare disease is a #1 priority. But the rest of us should remember that much of what we know about cancer, such as tumor suppressors, has come from the study of rare, but extremely well characterized cancers. This can be generalized to many other diseases.

so many interesting ideas/gems in this project! i think mechanically it solves and points to a lot of directions: prompt as genetic code and hence evolving material, visual outputs as phenotype for CLIP to measure novelty. not to mention the experiments of using research into

Breeding parametric chairs 💺🧬 Using signed distance field shaders generated with Claude. They are wacky, but I love how they would not come from any model trained on a chair dataset.

neural cellular automata bookshelves I was trying to grow back in 2016... The idea was to evolve a design which would then grow to fit any space or book size distribution. Didn't work great but fun to see where things started!

Here’s a new approach to treating diseases caused by mutated proteins, including the rare but lethal liver cancer fibrolamellar carcinoma (FLC). Many diseases are driven by mutations: sometimes a single change, sometimes two proteins fused together. (1/9)

Excited to speak at CVPR this year about how current research paradigms are misaligned with what artists need from their tools.

Respectfully disagree with this! I see the prompt box as a cage, constraining what we create to what we can express with language. Novel creations unfold emergently while working in a material. Down with the prompt box! This is what my talk tomorrow is about :)

Excited to be showing prints at Art Basel with AUTOMATA! They are visualizations of complete genealogical networks of individual ArtBreeder images, revealing the shapes of large-scale, indirect collaborative evolution over time. 🧬🌌🌺

This is very significant! ArtBreeder was the pioneer of collaborative AI-art platforms, where everybody interconnected their work - great visualisation of human culture in the intertextual meaning of post-structuralists. I wish I'd see these works IRL!
