Watching Anne with an E again - I went through the Anne of Green Gable books over the holidays, mostly in order. This Anne is Anne + Mary Vance. Mary showed up in the last two books, a runaway "Home" girl who was Anne as she should have been.

I seem to have balloons. 60, this time. I don't quite believe the number.

For my big 60th, Jon got me a vintage necklace and earring set from a 70s artist, made of beaten metal discs. Gorgeous. He also bought me a Coach bag, of my choice, easily the most expensive bag I've ever owned. Also gorgeous. And a perfect steak dinner to finish it off.

Watching the Gilded Age. They're having a formal luncheon, and everyone is SHOCKED! SHOCKED! that there is a soup course. Luncheon soup courses were perfectly normal in that time and place. I found several 1882 luncheon menus with soup.

I just made the best turkey I have ever cooked. I am now completely sold on brining. The meat was tender and moist and not salty at all.

COVID (this is my second time) means that, although I had the energy to cook dinner, I don't have enough to eat it. I was symptomatic and tested positive on Saturday. Been taking Paxlovid since Sunday. The fever is gone, the congestion is gone. The fatigue is very real.

The great Andre Braugher was masterful as Thomas Searles in the movie “Glory.” But let’s talk TV for a moment. I would argue with Frank Pembleton and Capt. Holt, he was the greatest Black television actor of all time. And a fine gentleman. Rest in Peace. #AndreBraugher

I am devastated at the loss of #AndreBraugher His talent, brilliance and fire illuminated every role he played. Rest in peace.
