Against the Night.

Stray (😉) thought as I’m reading Against the Day during Fourth of July weekend: politically, dynamite is the opposite of fireworks.

One of the many incredible things about Against the Day is that in addition to its whole sprawling metaphysical philosophical historical thing, Pynchon does a pitch perfect parody of boys adventure books that perfectly ties into it all. The effort behind all this is gargantuan.

this is heartbreaking. Holy Mountain is a pillar of the contemporary experimental music underground & John was a perfect example of a lifer sharing his bottomless knowledge & artistic sensibilities with those around him. i love this label. 30 years is so wild !! rest in peace

Loved Steve Zahn in OUT OF SIGHT & it made me think about how I never don't want to see that guy. He's always great but he usually plays such dumb characters that you might miss how good he really is.
