New paper!! 📰🚨Check out our Oceanarium in Marine Biodiversity, documenting a recent stress event observed following heavy rainfall on the "super corals" of the GBR mangrove lagoons 🪸🌧️ Tash Bartels Lorna Howlett Emma Camp link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Some of us from the FutureReefsLab are here for UTS #openday. If you are interested in studying #marine biology UTS Science come say hi! 🪸🐠🌊 Nikki Di Lernia Tash Bartels

Getting a notification (thanks Tash Bartels !!) deep in the midst of manuscript writing, that my first-First Author paper received it's first citation was the nice little motivation boost I needed! 💪 Feeling pretty chuffed 🫢😊 scholar.google.com.au/citations?view…

Getting set up at Australian Institute of Marine Science SeaSim for coral spawning! Thanks Nikki Di Lernia for your help!

🚨New Paper!! We investigated how altering the rate of heating in Symbiodiniaceae heat stress studies impacts the outcomes observed. Read on to find out if how quickly the temperature is ramped up matters! Emma Camp Nikki Di Lernia David J Suggett link.springer.com/article/10.100…

🪸New paper! Metabolomics doi.org/10.1007/s11306… We analysed the volatilome of temperate benthic species for the first time, and found that a coral and kelp species within Sydney Harbour emit distinct volatile organic compounds, in differing quantities.

Capping off four years, today was my thesis submission day Endless, massive thanks to my incredible supervisors, JB Raina, Dr Caitlin Alinya Lawson, Maiken Ueland and David J Suggett Glad to say that not knowing what the next year will look like is more exciting than scary

Couldn’t have done it without Jennifer Matthews and Axel Olander who dropped everything to help me get this experiment done. Very grateful for an amazing team and supervisors!

Dr Emma Camp spoke at the CommBank Girls in STEM day on utilising science to secure a future for the GBR 🪸 followed by an Expo and chat on all things coral - with PhD candidates Tash Bartels and Nikki Di Lernia - for Sydney high school students!

Had a great couple of days at Aust Coral Reef Soc conference - including a WA museum collections tour, inspiring keynotes and so many interesting talks! Even met another coral volatile nerd (if you’re one of the 4.5 people in this field you’ll know how exciting that is)!!

Great morning spent at Western Australian Museum - after touring the expansive collections, learning about preservation + how much info these specimens contribute to taxonomy at the start of our trip (thanks A/Prof Zoe Richards!) was nice to come full circle and see current exhibits before flying home!
