It's up against tough competition but the scene in which the sick kids hang off Wendy's arms and she swings them around is my favourite in the first episode of #AlienEarth. Brilliant visual storytelling.

Two other thoughts re #AlienEarth. The 'Maginot'? Seriously? Who's naming these ships? Maybe they should crack open a history book. Peter Pan - that is one deeply, deeply weird novel. JM Barrie would be on a watch list today. As Kavalier should have been.

Like something from a Japanese horror film, the legendary and genuinely creepy Fifth Housemate lurked in the background of every episode of series one of THE YOUNG ONES (1982). I've watched the series countless times since I was 12 and only became aware of this about 7 years ago!

Theory - Taylor Swift's The Fate of Ophelia is actually about Ophelia Lovibond whose work in Minx and The Hills of California the songwriter greatly admired.

Was unprepared for Joanna Lumley showing up in #Wednesday and looking so spritely. Maybe we've got this whole 'smoking is bad for you' thing badly wrong.

Sad news about Terence Stamp. I read his memoir, The Ocean fell into the Drop, in which he wrote a lot more about mysticism and tantric sex than I was expecting. Big fan of Julie Christie. Not a big fan of Dirk Bogarde.

Me teaching my daughter to pick up litter while walking the dog. If wanting a clean environment is a ‘grift’ fine by me! We live in a society, and public space belongs to everyone.

Not a stream but a broken water main in Green Dale SE22 leaking out millions of gallons of water during a drought with ⁦Thames Water 💧⁩ nowhere to be seen. ⁦Feargal Sharkey

Not to add to the discourse, but… It’s ‘toe the line,’ not ‘tow the line.’ It’s ‘free rein,’ and not ‘free reign.’ It’s ‘eke out,’ not ‘eek out.’ It’s ‘sleight of hand,’ not ‘slight of hand.’ It's ‘Anchors aweigh,’ and not ‘Anchor's away!’

I love #MayfairWitches but it's certainly er...uneven. I did enjoy this scene when our heroes have travelled from New Orleans to Scotland (Kilbride!) to do battle with a powerful demonic entity...

The meaningless Defra quote at the end of this would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. What is it that the water minister Emma Hardy actually does? Anyone know? thetimes.com/uk/environment…
