Pushing 150,000 disabled people into poverty IS NOT the right approach

Amongst all the noise, we are sending our solidarity to all Disabled people watching on as we see our lives, our impairments and our survival debated in the halls of Parliament. Beyond the political spectacle, it is real lives that will be impacted by these cuts.

The Labour Party created the welfare state and now they’re dismantling it. Any MP who supports this legislation today is supporting cutting payments from disabled people.

I have followed this bill every moment. I look at forms the whole time, mainly other peoples, sometimes my own. Compared to MPs I know my shit. But I have NO IDEA what Labour would be voting for now. It’s totally unethical to vote on this. #TakingThePIP

Disabled people deserve SO much better. Labour should apologise for what they are forcing disabled people to go through. This mess isn’t just appalling politics. Above everything else, this is people lives.

Don’t forget, Anas Sarwar has repeatedly defended the very disability cuts that Keir Starmer is now rowing back on. A follower, not a leader.

This Welfare bill is now being made up on the hoof; unwritten, ill thought out and no garuntees to anyone on any side of the debate.

Make no mistakes: this floundering from the Government is because of the steadfast work of Disabled campaigners and our allies across the country making it known this bill is unworkable. They thought they could push this disaster bill through quietly - never underestimate us!

Labour’s behaviour towards people with disabilities is appalling. The chaos that Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves have presided over has shown total contempt for the vulnerable. And Anas Sarwar has supported them all the way. Westminster is failing. Scotland deserves better.
