✨Pre-print posted for discussion✨ How do realistic variations in the #CESM2 equations for how sea ice edges melt (lateral melt) impact the ice state? It effects the ice-albedo feedback in the Arctic, and so changes the predicted sea ice 🧊 tc.copernicus.org/preprints/tc-2…

Want to learn about Arctic Ocean freshwater in CMIP6 models from a set of badass women authors?! Great! Read my new paper with @SeaIceClimate and Marika Holland in JGR Oceans! #AGUpubs agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20…

Interested in how volcanic eruptions impact sea ice? Check out our new paper, led by Andrew Pauling and with Cecilia Bitz. Hemispherically symmetric volcanic forcing leads to a highly asymmetric response in sea ice!

Just shy of 4 years ago, my colleagues sampled this lunar looking ice surface in southern Hudson Bay. The ice was covered in sediment & too thick for the Amundsen to break through. This thick 'dirty' ice hadn't been observed before in Hudson Bay, so we dove into it.

I am delighted to annouce that the U.S. National Science Foundation just awarded our STC center nsf.gov/news/special_r…, called Learning the Earth with Artificial Intelligence and Science (LEAP), on artifical intelligence and climate modeling. Many opportunities to come.

This one is for all my followers who understand nynorsk... 😉 I'm feeling very lucky (and slightly petrified!) to have been awarded an European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant. We will investigate rapidly-changing Arctic sea ice thickness during the melt season EO Group UiT UiT Norges arktiske universitet
