Working with @GovInslee, Office of Financial Management, tribal co-managers including the Lummi Nation, Makah Tribe, and others, Washington Sea Grant WSG Crab Team & Washington Invasive Species Council, WDFW is requesting $8,568,000 during the 2022 session to control increasing European green crab populations. wdfw.medium.com/european-green…

abby keller ’s Green Crab #eDNA paper is out, with Washington Sea Grant partners! tinyurl.com/4jac2jar I love this paper. Quantitative and practical, applicable broadly to invasive-species management. Un-paywalled version: tinyurl.com/2p9aafyn

Our colleagues at UW SAFS and Washington Sea Grant WSG Crab Team have published exciting new results on the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) water testing and genetic analysis as a tool for early detection of invasive European #greencrab: washington.edu/news/2022/02/1… UW News #WAInvasives

Check out this new work by Abby Keller @pseanmc Emily Grason @Ingertdna UW Marine Affairs UW Program on the Environment UW SAFS in Ecological Applications. Could have big implications for WA's #greencrab disaster

We're pleased to share a paper just out where were fortunate to be able to collaborate with Abby Keller & Ryan Kelly. The team looked at how #eDNA compares to trapping in green crab detection and abundance estimates. More to come on the tools this work will offer management.

It has been incredibly rewarding to dive into some deep thinking about detection probabilities with Abby Keller & Ryan Kelly. Their patience (with my 🧬ignorance) and curiosity made this very strong work. Stay tuned for more cool stuff on this.

A new analysis method applied to the invasive green crab developed by University of Washington and Washington Sea Grant scientists could help contain future invasions and prevent new outbreaks using water testing and eDNA analysis. Learn more ➡️ aau.edu/research-schol…
