Yesterday, I was part of a health sector field mission to visit Tebnin & Marji'yun hospitals. Our meeting with hospital management allowed us to understand the impact of the conflict on health systems in general. Hospital Directors requested urgent support to maintain services.

In a fact-finding mission to assess the impact of the latest conflict on frontline health facilities in the south, a Health Sector Coordination Team, led by the WHO, together with Ministry of Public Health - Lebanon, UNICEF Lebanon, UNFPALebanon and Amel visited Tebnin and Marjaayoun public hospitals.

Lebanon remains among the countries in the region with the highest smoking prevalence. It's among the 6 countries worldwide where tobacco use is still on the rise, preventing it from achieving the global target of a 30% decrease in tobacco use. Promote tobacco-free Lebanon.

Today, I joined the Minister of Public Health & UNHCR representative to open a consultative workshop to strengthen national & subnational health sector coordination in🇱🇧. Improving subnational coordination will empower local actors under MoPH leadership and ensure ownership.

I want to congratulate health sector team for their dedication to maintaining an effective health coordination mechanism in🇱🇧that can serve both humanitarian & development activities. It's time to invest in subnational coordination mechanisms and become closer to the community.
