Con gente del MACN, CEPAVE y Uruguay, recién describimos la araña Pikelinia schiapelliae (Filistatidae), hallada en arenales de Argentina y Uruguay. Muy simpática! (foto 1 por Damián Hagopián)

I’m thrilled to announce the publication of the 'Festschrift celebrating Dr. Luis F. de Armas on his 80th birthday' in Zootaxa (mapress.com/zt/issue/view/…)! This monumental 395-page volume features remarkable papers—a perfect birthday gift for the renowned Cuban zoologist!

Happy to see this publication out! I am delighted to have collaborated with Vanesa Mamani and Daniel Proud on this article. This project features some of my earliest scientific drawings, created 30 years ago!

Sci-comm at its finest! Shahan Derkarabetian and I just published a systematic study of arachnids in the Magic: The Gathering card game (Magic: The Gathering). We discuss the evolution of spiders and other arachnids across the multiverse! Check it out: virginianaturalhistorysociety.com/wp-content/upl…

Very proud to see this study, led by our PhD student (at Aracnologia MACN) Vanesa Mamani, published. It addresses an intriguing taxonomic conundrum involving synonymy, a spurious locality, and intrasexual dimorphic males in Opiliones.

Male and female of the opilionid Sadocus polyacanthus  photographed near Lake Moquehue, Neuquén, Argentine Patagonia. Species Sadocus are among the largest and most colorful opilionids. Lake Moquehue marks the northernmost limit of this species' distribution in Argentina.

Deinopis spiders are incredibly photogenic, perhaps due to their two enormous eyes that provide them with exceptional night vision. This is a male (notice its boxing glove-shaped pedipalps, which are used during mating), photographed in Buenos Aires.

Paper out🕷️📢! We explore the implications of different cheliceral morphotypes related to different trophic adaptations on the species' ability to undergo ecological release in the red devil spiders from the Canary Islands. Full text at Insect Conservation and Diversity: doi.org/10.1111/icad.1…
